Lowestoft - Yarmouth Band

We have hired Rhydian on a few animations and he has been such an amazing sound artist we jumped at the chance to help him out on a new music video for his band Yarmouth.

The song was based on repetitive summer holiday trips to disappointing seaside destinations, the monotony of these trips eventually sending everyone mad. This specific seaside destination, Joyland in Yarmouth has gained an almost cult following for its bizarre rides that have remained mostly unchanged from its opening in 1949. The snails were a main inspiration when designing video, a harrowing expression that could haunt anyone nightmares.

This is a great example of designing a scene that works in a portrait and landscape just as well as more clients are looking to use content over multiple platforms. We keep this in mind from the very beginning to make sure neither shot suffers. Making the canvas for Spotify was the first step, taking care to match the bpm with the beats in the animation so they both work together on screen, adding little extra bits into the background animation so its not too repetitive.

We then went onto making the landscape music video for Youtube, we adjusted the layout slightly to fill the scene and added karaoke style captions but most of the base animation stayed the same. Make sure you stay right to the end with this one as we had a lot of fun descending into the madness!
